Isvak is a first person survival game that takes place in a post-apolyptic ice age for hardcore players.
For my second game project we got tasked to make a survival game with hardcore mechanics, we took inspirations of many different survival games. Isvak takes place in a ice-age and the core gameloop is the player is collecting items while they need to mind both resources and stats for survival. The goal is to collect items to upgrade your equipment to explore further in the world while finding out more about the world before the apocalypse.
My role during the project was to write miscellanous game mechanics, Among the things I implemented pickup system when the player needed to deliver quest items,dialogue system with NPC's and lore . I also worked on upgrade system to work together with the character stats and UI. Other than that I was in charge of the repository and was actively participating in game design decisions regarding gameplay.
Our game achieved second place of best game during the game project. We also won a award for Best Narrative.
Even though our idea was quite ambitious, the team and I achieved something great. We wanted to work further on the game as a passion project as we thought we nailed the concept and I often take this project as a inspiration when designing my own technical design documents. Given our short amount of time, we managed to meet the deadline and it was both playable on PC and mobile devices.
